Living in a foreign country, I miss waking up to the sounds of the bush, especially the birds calling. From the warble of the magpies in the early morning, the deafening screech of the cockatoos late afternoon and the gentle hoo-hoo of the owls by night, they are as distinct as their personalities. Thinking about the colours, shapes and diversity of bird life in Australia, I was inspired to capture this by painting them.
